Colorado energy, everyday ease

Why Fort Collins

All the mountain-town goodness, but set up for actual family life and social connection.

Colorado, but livable

Big outdoors energy with day-to-day convenience. More affordable than Boulder and Denver, but still has all the amenities.

Mountains in minutes

Trails, river access, and foothills are close enough for easy weekday adventures.

Walkable + bikeable

Coffee runs, parks, and downtown hangs are easy without overthinking logistics. Very affordable lodging within a short drive of the city center.

Cool summer weather

August mornings are usually around 55-65F, and peak afternoon heat is often about 85-92F. It is a dry heat, so outside time feels much easier than Austin humidity.

Easy for kids

Lots of room to roam and play, with less overplanning and more natural rhythm.

A real town, not a resort

You can settle in, build routines, and feel like locals for a month.

Who this is for

Families and couples building a flexible, connected month

Most families in this group have a stay-at-home parent or a mom with a flexible schedule, and at least one parent working remotely during the month. The rhythm is built for real life: work blocks, kid hangs, spontaneous park days, and easy weekday adventures.

Most kid age ranges right now are 0-6, with a few older siblings in the mix.

The vibe is intentionally crunchy and family-first: more outside time, less screen time, wholesome food, shared community, and kids who can roam, play, and make friends.

Where to base yourself

Stay close, keep meetup logistics easy

Downtown, Old Town, and City Park are the easiest neighborhoods for a walkable month. You can stay in nearby towns and still drive in easily, but these three make day-to-day meetups simplest.

After you sign up, you will get access to a WhatsApp group where families can coordinate shared lodging if they want to.

Travel + lodging logistics

Road Trip Caravan

Driving from Austin? Roll up together.

We will help coordinate a fun caravan option in the WhatsApp group so families can share timing, kid stops, and overnight break points on the way to Colorado.

  • Most activities are free or pay-at-cost. If an event has a fee, you only pay that direct cost.
  • Book your own accommodation based on your budget and needs; this is not a packaged tour.
  • Closest airport: Denver International (DEN), then 75-90 minute drive/shuttle to Fort Collins.
  • Local transportation: bikes, rideshare, and short drives to trailheads.

FAQ

Questions people ask before joining

How much does it cost?

It is $50 to register interest and join the WhatsApp community. Then it is $250 per family for the full month or $100 per family per week for activity participation. Most activities are free or pay-at-cost, so you only cover direct fees when they come up.

Do you book flights and lodging for us?

No. This is for people comfortable booking their own travel and accommodation. Pick the setup that fits your budget and needs, ideally near walkable downtown for easy meetups.

Is this a guided tourism package?

No. This is community-organized, not a hand-holding group tour. You handle your own travel and lodging, and we share a weekly rhythm plus meetup plans.

Is this trip kid-friendly?

Yes. The weekly plan is intentionally low-stress and easy to adapt for kids, naps, and early evenings.

What is the family vibe?

Connection-first and crunchy. Lots of outdoor play, low-pressure social time, and healthy food. If your kid needs an iPad and Cheetos for a good hang, this isn't it.

Who is this best for?

Austinites who are comfortable self-booking Airbnbs and travel, and who want a social summer experience instead of planning everything solo.

Can I join for only part of the month?

Absolutely. Join by the week ($100/family) or for the full month ($250/family).

Do I need to be very active to participate?

No. Every day is built around one main activity, with room to scale up or down based on your energy.

What if weather changes?

Every core activity has a rain/heat backup option listed in the schedule so the trip still feels smooth.

When should I RSVP?

As early as possible. RSVP gets you weekly plan updates, community meetup details, and timing for paid add-on events.
